String Orchestra

The Buddy Rogers String Orchestra is designed to be a beginner’s orchestra open to students grades 4-8 who want to learn how to play the violin, viola, or cello. We have a limited supply of loaner instruments, so that you do not have to own or rent your own instrument. Instruments are subject to size and availability. No audition is required but students must make a one-year commitment to the class. If you do have your own instrument, you are still welcome to apply for this group.

Youth Symphony

Our flagship ensemble is the Buddy Rogers Youth Symphony. It is open to students who have played the Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass for at least two years. Students must be able to comfortably read music notation and rhythms including 8th and 16th notes. Students in school bands should be able to play up to grade 3 level music.

Auditions will be virtual.

Winds/Brass Audition Requirement - Please prepare 1, two-octave scale of your choosing and one chromatic scale that demonstrates the widest range that you can comfortably play. Please also prepare a solo piece that best demonstrates your ability on the instrument. PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR AUDITION MUSIC WITH YOUR APPLICATION.

Percussion Audition Requirement - You must audition on Snare Drum and Mallets. For Snare drum, please be prepared to demonstrate a rudiment of your choice at a variety of tempi. For Mallets, please prepare 1, two-octave scale of your choosing and a two-octave chromatic scale. Please also prepare a solo piece on an instrument of your choice (mallets or snare drum) that best demonstrates your ability on that instrument. PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR AUDITION MUSIC WITH YOUR APPLICATION.

Strings Audition Requirement - Please prepare 2, two-octave scale of your choosing. Please also prepare a solo piece that best demonstrates your ability on the instrument. PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR AUDITION MUSIC WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
